What a night. It was the best Ashlyn had had in a long time. She'd stayed the night at her parents, deciding that she really needed to figure out what she was going to do about her hotel suite. But no matter how good her night was, Ashlyn always had to start her day with and iced Chai tea latte, preferably from the one and only Starry Nights. She decided to walk the distance from her parents to the cafe, even though it was over two miles. She was feeling good, and her endorphins didn't decrease even as she neared the cafe. If anything, she felt even better having gotten some exercise. It'd been a long time since she was able to hit the gym, what with work and everything. But thankfully, it was a Saturday and she had the weekend off.
She opened the door to the cafe, the bell on it making a gentle jingle as she did so. The smell of coffee instantly filled her nose, making her smile. She went up to the counter, removed her sunglasses and smiled at the server. "Good morning, Andy. Could I get the usual?" Even her voice was lighter and happier than normal. Andy nodded and stepped away to take care of that, while Ashlyn read the rest of the menu.

It had been one hell of a night for Kaden as he woke in the earlier hours of the morning light. He had slept little to none because of thinking about Jasper so much. She was the one thing that was constantly on his mind and it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to not think of her. No one else really knew that he was practically in love with her, which was probably part of his problem because he was really too shy to say anything to her or anyone about it. Groaning, he got out of bed and took his shower before heading out to Starry Nights for some coffee to wake himself up.
He walked in, the aroma of all the coffees hitting him at once. Kaden loved the smell of coffee and this place was especially his favorite for two reasons; the first being that it had amazing coffee and the second...well, he had run into Jasper here before. When he walked up to the counter, he saw Ashlyn standing there. She was one of his co-stars for the show and he always thought of her as a pretty nice girl. "Good morning Ashlyn," he greeted cheerfully.

Ashlyn was about to ask for a cookie when she heard someone address her. The voice was familiar, one she wouldn't soon forget. She spun around, coming to face the owner of the voice. Her assumptions were correct; it was Kaden Lynch. He looked tired, but that made him even cuter, if that was even possible. Looking up at him, Ashlyn was happy that she'd put eyeliner on this morning. She didn't want him seeing her like she looked the other day at the readthrough.
"Hey, Kaden," she said calmly, though her body felt otherwise. "Fancy meeting you here." She paid Andy with cash as he handed her the Chai. She dropped a dollar and the change into the tip jar, then turned her attention back to Kaden. "You can join me, if you like."

Smiling at Ashlyn, he stepped forward and quickly ordered his usual latte before turning back around to address her again. "I come here from time to time," he cooly replied. "They have the best coffee if you've had a rough morning. So, where shall we sit?" He picked up his order and dropped a tip into the jar before walking over to the seating area, waiting for Ashlyn to pick a seat. Out of all the people on the set of Just Hear Me, Ashlyn was among the easiest to talk to in his opinion; that is, other than Jasper. But, he still had no idea how to approach that whole situation at all. Never before had he been more confused about a girl than he was about Jasper.

Ashlyn waited for Kaden to get his drink. He asked where they would be sitting, and Ashlyn scanned the room. It's not like it was crowded or anything, she just wanted to make sure they had the perfect seating. They'd never really been alone together or anything, and Ashlyn never really had much luck in the dating department, so she wasn't exactly sure how anything worked. She finally spotted the perfect place. It was near the window and the big wall mural, in the corner. Two cushy chairs next to each other with a table in between. "How about over there?" she asked, nodding to them. Before Kaden had a chance to answer though, she was already making he way there.

Kaden laughed as Ashlyn picked out the spot and immediately went over to it. When they reached the table, he pulled out her chair for her to sit in. He had been raised to always be polite to women, so pulling out her chair for her was just part of that. Once that was taken care of, he took his own seat and took a sip of his coffee. The atmosphere was pleasant enough for eight in the morning, although Kaden would have loved it noisier just because he was used to it. "So, what brings you here this fine morning?" he asked, beginning a casual conversation.

Ashlyn smiled as Kaden pulled the chair out for her. She hadn't exactly been expecting that, as most men would have just let her sit down on her own. She'd though chivalry was dead, but this made her feel happy to know that it wasn't, at least not fully. Ashlyn watched him sit down as well and she took a sip of her iced Chai. It wasn't too cold, which made her happy because she didn't get a brainfreeze.
"So, what brings you here this fine morning?" Kaden asked her. She looked back up at him from her cup. "Oh, you know," she started. "I'm just feeling really good. I got an excellent night's sleep and I needed to get out of my parents' house." She glanced out the window at the people walking by. Some of them were regulars, probably going to work or maybe the Church on Sundays. "I just love it here," she said, looking back at Kaden. "I love the smell and the people and the atmosphere. Its perfect."

Smiling, Kaden watched as Ashlyn sipped her drink and watched the people around them. Sunday mornings were usually the slowest at Starry Nights because people were out and about going to church or other family things. "This place is one of my favorites," he said. "When I come here, I just like to sit back and take things into perspective. Most people that come in here don't know who I am, so it's kind of nice to not be bombarded by teenage girls." Kaden chuckled and took another drink of coffee. He still was not used to the whole "Hollywood" thing and girls constantly mobbing him for attention and autographs. Starry Nights was one place he felt like he could escape and be himself.

Ashlyn laughed. She knew what it was like to be mauled by rabid fangirls. She had quite a following of teens herself. Girls always wanting her to sign this, take a picture, etc. Ashlyn loved it, but sometimes it did get a little tiring. Sometimes she just had to get away from it. A lot of people were staying in the Hotel, and they'd see Ashlyn and want an autograph or picture. They were usually pretty quiet there, until a big event or something major happened on the show, and she'd have a big following again. When this happened, Ashlyn found it most comforting to be home, because she could get her quiet time there. "Well, I don't have the girls wanting to kidnap and marry me, but I know where you're coming from," she said with a smile. "It's so crazy how the show blew up like it did... I'm still just like, 'oh my god, is this really my life?'"

Kaden laughed again when Ashlyn talked about not having mobs of teenage girls following her. "Yeah, I was definitely not expecting the fan base when I signed on for this show," he joked. "It seems like everyday I meet some obcessed girl that knows everything about me and I've never even met her. While it's very sweet sometimes...it's also kind of creepy in a way." He smiled and rested his hand next to his coffee cup. He looked out the window to the semi-busy street outside and wondered what it would be like to be a normal guy again...not having to worry about schedules or whether or not he was rehearsing or shooting on a given day. His thoughts also drifted toward Jasper and he wondered what she was doing right at that moment.

Ashlyn nodded. "I know. Its like, something you have to almost accept. The creepy fangirls, I mean." She sipped her Chai again. "You know, we should just like, take a vacation. There are so many places that don't even know what Just Hear Me is. I'm sure we'd be perfectly safe." It was her way of asking him out without asking him out. She was quick to tag on a last bit as well. "I mean, Jasper and Austin and Karin, too. We could all use a vacation." She glanced out the window, wondering what Kaden was thinking. There wasn't much she could think of, other than the fact that the two of them were alone in a café, without possible interruption. It was exciting and scary, all at the same time. "I sure as hell could get out of the Hotel. It'd probably be good for me."

Ashlyn's words whipped Kaden's attention to the present real quick as she mentioned going on vacation together. Before he could say anything, however, she tagged on that Jasper, Austin, and Karin could come as well. That additive eased Kaden's mind a little and at the same time, freaked him out because she mentioned Jasper. Anytime anyone mentioned Jasper, it tended to make Kaden a little jumpy because no one knew how he felt about her, aside from his best friend Tyler. "Yeah, a vacation with a few of us sounds like fun," he said before laughing and adding, "And it would do you some good to get out of that hotel. Personally hotels kind of freak me out, but that is just me." Kaden started to chuckle at himself. He hated hotels for one reason...elevators. That was his one semi-phobia since he watched one too many horror movies as a kid where people died on an elevator. But, that was his secret...no one, not even Tyler even knew that.
He took a drink of his coffee and looked at Ashlyn and smiled. "So, other than the show and living in a hotel, how have things been looking for you lately? Anything new and interesting on the horizon?" he asked, genuinely curious as to how life was going for his friend.

Ashlyn nodded. She knew what he meant by the hotel freaking him out. It scared the living daylights out of her. "Honest to God, I have no idea why I stay there. There are times when I'm sitting in bed, knees to my chest, shaking, and I ask myself 'why the hell am I living like this?'" She smiled. "Then my parents call. And I remember."
She transitioned to answer Kaden's question. "Really, not much has been going on. Just the show, really. Doing a few talk shows. I was on The View last week. But really, it's been pretty quiet." She paused to take a sip of her drink. "How about you?"

For once in his life, Kaden was glad he lived on his own. He didn't have to deal with prying parents if he didn't want to, although his parents were never really that type to begin with. He and Tyler were living up the bachelor life at his pad and he loved it. Hanging out all the time, parties with cast mates, and even just chilling at the house was a part of his life that he thoroughly enjoyed. Ashlyn called his attention with her question and he looked back at her. "Oh nothing much of consequence," he replied. "Mostly the show and taking care of my little sister...her dirt bag ex-boyfriend has got another thing comin' if he thinks he can mess with my sister again," he paused awkwardly. "In case that sounded completely like an asshole thing to say, allow me to explain. My sister was dating this guy that thought he could get away with trying to feel up Kerri, who is my baby sister. She called me the other day during read-through and that's why I had to leave so suddenly. Well, now he is trying to spread rumors around the high school that my sister slept with him when it isn't true. I'm gonna kick his pansy ass next time he says anything about my sister." Kaden paused again and suddenly realized he was taking out his problems on Ashlyn. "I'm sorry, I must sound like the hickest guy alive right now, talkin' about beating up guys for my sister's honor."

Ashlyn laughed, and shook her head. "No, no you don't. I think its sweet that you protect her. Your sister's a lucky girl to have you around." A very lucky girl... Ashlyn never had anyone willing to protect her honor other than her best friend Dane. Dane took great care of Ashlyn and would definitely defend her if needed, but things were different when he was the one sleeping with her. She never minded, and it was a secret between the two of them, and the benefits were definitely amazing and appreciated. But if Ashlyn ever had someone spreading rumors about her, she had no idea what she'd do.
She did know that if she were to start dating someone exclusively, Dane would probably threaten him within an inch of his existence. He knew Aslyn was in love with Kaden, and that didn't stop Dane from saying he'd kick Kaden's ass if he hurt her. And since Ashlyn wasn't dating Kaden, the benefits didn't stop either. "I'm sure she'd do the same for you. I know I would."
